Homeowners associations are busily enforcing similar standards with similar threats. However, it should be really interesting if people want to contest that in Florida, as there is a state law that despite what the homeowners association rules state, they can't legally prevent people from landscaping with Florida friendly grass and plants. That doesn't keep people from from trying to enforce conformity because they think without it property values drop, plus something that looks different is often seen as an eyesore by others.
